Rediscovering what Saturday feels like

I don’t remember the last time I had nothing to do on a Saturday–that’s not entirely true…it was sometime mid August. The last few Saturdays in August and first few Saturdays in September I had to work and then after that cross country started and I was at meets. Needless to say, this Saturday I woke up confused and in a state of culture shock because I didn’t have to go anywhere or necessarily do anything. It took me a while but I rediscovered what Saturday was all about, and no I did NOT run a race.

I woke up around 8:30am. Decided to be domestic and make breakfast. Phil wanted pancakes so I made pancakes. While I made the pancakes Phil went to Dunkin Donuts and got me a mint hot chocolate and himself a coffee. We have coffee at home but this seemed like a Saturday thing to do. We ate the pancakes and then just hung out in the living room for a while. I caught Ninja on the counter and took this picture when he jumped down as I entered the kitchen.

Then I went over my parents house and ran with my mom. After running we went to the craft store and got Christmas decorations. I had a blast because I love Christmas and I’m trying to get in the spirit early this year. When I came home I had a nice check in the mailbox from the college for coaching this fall so Saturday became more exciting! I got a shower and then around 5 Phil & I went to dinner with his parents which was nice because we haven’t seen them in a while. Dinner was great. We went to a really cute pizza place and I had buffalo chicken pizza, my favorite. After dinner we went to the mall. We didn’t buy anything but I scoped out things I wanted to get on Black Friday. On our way home we stopped at Dunkin Donuts and this time I got a snicker doodle latte–Yupp 2 Dunkin beverages for me in one day. When we got home I started rereading chapters for my class and made notecards while watching Serendipity. Serendipity is my absolute favorite movie! Now I’m ready for bed. Overall I think I like Saturday. I also think Saturday is about doing whatever you want to do. Am I right?
