*From the ages of 14-19 I refused to wear pants or tights when running outside in the winter. My legs would turn beat red and I would be very sore–I probably almost experienced frost bite. I now wear pants and tights when running outside in the winter. I also wear gloves, a headband or hat, probably 4 shirts, and sometimes multiple pairs of socks when running outside in the winter. Funny thing, since I began dressing appropriately I am not usually sore when running outside in the winter. I am also warmer.
*I do not run outside in the dark when I know that there is black ice because I will slip and fall. I am clumsy and I always slip and fall. Black ice doubles the amount of times I will fall. In high school and college I would run when it was icy and dark because I was an idiot. I would get hurt.
*I once thought running was about quantity of miles–I was stupid and wrong. Running is about the quality of the run and enjoying the sport. This realization came more recently. I always knew this but I actually decided to stop being an idiot and acknowledge this last week. Better late than never.
*I have locked myself out of the house a few times when I went for a run. Now I double, triple & quadruple check to make sure that I have a key
*I thought eating chews on a long run was cheating until about a year and a half ago….I don’t think that anymore
*I thought I couldn’t get poison ivy…..
I won’t run outside in the dark and ice either. I slipped and fell in college (not running ironically) and broke my arm. I also locked myself out of the house before a job interview once…that was scary.

We don’t have the problem of ice here in SC, at least, but I do get a little paranoid running after dark. I’m scared I’ll trip on a crack in the sidewalk or something!
I almost never wear pants on the run! I do own pants. It has to be below 35 or so for me to actually wear them, though. I will say, I’m kinda paranoid about ever running in a sports bra without a tank top/shirt… lots of girls here do because it gets so hot but I’m scared I’ll get honks and weirdness.

A certain high school team mate of yours may have set that example of never wearing sweats or tights in the freezing cold winter temps! Love that you are realizing quality miles instead of quantity. I feel like our recent things that sidelined us both have really taught us so much!

Haha. I am pretty certain I developed this bad habit from that high school teammate because I wanted to be fast & she was fast…..
